Plastic materials have always been the choice when difficult contexts involving chemical etching require replacing metal materials.
Among such contexts, swimming pools are subject to considerable corrosion risks related to the presence of aqueous solutions of mostly chlorine-based sanitizing agents that are aggressive in both liquid and vapor phases.
The challenge that BVR Electronic took up and successfully met is, however, even more audacious: the development of an underwater LED lamp for swimming pool lighting, totally made of plastics and resistant to the chemical action of disinfectants, water and salt.
LED cooling is, of course, one of the problems to be solved; the LED board support made of LATICONTHER 87/28 GR/50, the thermally conductive compound that LATI has developed starting from 50% special graphite-reinforced PC, ensures proper functioning of the optics.
Excellent in terms of thermal conductivity, LATICONTHER 87 also ensures the best dimensional stability, which is a key factor for sealing the lamp by watertight joining the rear dissipating part and the transparent PC front cover.
Not even the molding of the radiant base presents any difficulty since the compound formulation has been optimized for this purpose, by opting for fluid base resins and fillers deemed unproblematic from the rheological point of view.
Varioline underwater lighting lamps by BVR Electronic, showing an excellent resistance to chemicaletching due to polycarbonate, ensure the LED temperature is maintained around 40°C despite the 24W power installed thanks to the product design itself and the thermal performance of the selected compound.
