TCO
TCO
is the Swedish acronym for the confederation of
professional office-workers who establish the
economic requirements for offices, e.g. type of
plastic materials, colour of masks, screen reflection,
material of cables, energy consumption and
finally, the inclination and adjustment values
as regards height.
Since 1990 it has been responsible for the inspection
and the quality certification of electronic devices
in order to guarantee a work environment as ergonomic
as possible in addition to being free of electromagnetic
emissions.
Today TCO signifies a guarantee of the highest
standard of safety and ergonomics. It represents
an important certification for the quality and
protection of the environment.
Different versions of the label exist: TCO'95
and TCO'99, both concern displays, personal computers,
keyboards, laptops, printers, photocopiers and
components; TCO'01 concerns mobile phones; TCO'03
concerns monitors; TCO'04 relates to office furniture;
TCO'05 addresses laptops; TCO'06 is the latest
version of TCO'03.
