Active since 1927, by the name of Water Pollution Research Laboratory and under the auspices of the British government, the laboratory has always been dedicated to all aspects relative to the quality of water, acquiring in 1974, the name of WRc (Water Research Centre). Then, in 1989, it became an independent public company.

Since 1980 its laboratories have been a source of reference for the global health organization as far as the quality of water is concerned.
A vast range of customers, from the public to the private sector, refer to the WRc laboratories, counting among them the most important global industries.

In synthesis, apart from being responsible for the quality of water, it is also responsible for the validation of products and manufactured articles destined to come into contact with drinking water, under the provisions of WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme, the specific UK product standard) not to mention its transportation, through numerous and sophisticated organoleptic chemical and technological tests which range from the simple tasting and observation of the limpidity of water, to tests which evaluate the growth of microorganisms, cytotoxicity, the extraction of metals other than the well-known migration tests.
