The intrinsic combustibility of thermoplastic polymeric
materials and the consequent need to control their application
in hazardous sectors, have lead to a series of regulations
(among which UL94 regulations are the most requested)
for the classification of materials depending on their
behaviour during combustion, by means of specific tests.
The Lati S.p.A. laboratory is arranged to conduct
such combustibilty tests during the production quality
control phase and during the study and fine-tuning phase
of new formulations.
GWFI (Glow-Wire Flammability Index): gives
an indication of the highest temperature of the
incandescent wire at which the flame on the material
being tested extinguishes itself according to fixed
GWIT (Glow-Wire Ignition Temperature):
gives an indication of the highest temperature of
the incandescent wire that does not cause ignition
of the material being tested.
