For LATI, sustainability represents an ethical imperative, a competitive advantage and, above all, an attainable goal, and we believe that each of us can make a material difference, "be the change that you wish to see in the world."

Sustainability, in addition to being an economic macro-trend, is a belief expressed in the trust of our customers and investors and manifested in the support offered by financiers as a result of our high sustainability rating.

Sustainability is our compass: it guides consumption and capital and attracts talent, inspired by our industrial, social and environmental policies.

We do not underestimate the challenges of sustainability in our industry: plastics are frequently stigmatized as highly polluting, without understanding their positive potential in the circular economy. Hence our efforts to raise awareness for the responsible use of our materials throughout their life cycle.

Our approach to sustainability makes a difference in 3 key areas: economic sustainability (profit), social sustainability (people) and environmental sustainability (planet).

Economic sustainability: our duty towards the future

For LATI, profit is a means to create economic and social value. We continuously reinvest in our company to fuel an ambitious development plan, optimizing profit through the improvement of processes and product offerings.

We are inspired by the concept of "decoupling" because we want to break the traditional correlation between economic growth and inharmonious consumption of the planet's resources.

The value we generate is used to remunerate our employees with fair and competitive wages, to reward our financial partners and to fulfill our commitment to the public administration.

This year we will pay 3.7 million euros in taxes, we are proud to contribute to the process of redistribution of wealth.

Social sustainability: people first

We are convinced that we can contribute to the creation of a fairer society. How? By creating the conditions for new hires and stable employment, ensuring equal opportunities, development and training, and safeguarding the health, safety and well-being of our people.

We apply strict anti-Covid-19 protocols and are proud of several other initiatives: epidemiological mapping, on-demand diagnosis and systematic Smart Working, psychological counseling and an online exercise program worthy of the best gyms.

As an integral part of the social fabric of the territory, we have actively supported the actors on the front lines of the fight against Covid-19 and prioritize social solidarity initiatives.

Since Knowledge is a fundamental value for LATI we support FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano) and Wikipedia.

Environmental sustainability: pioneers of circular economy

In 1945 Cosimo Conterno created a factory to sort and recycle the plastic recovered from the remnants of war. Since then we have never abandoned the drive towards circular economy.

Our early environmental awareness also stems from the place where LATI was founded: near a residential area and against the backdrop of beautiful natural scenery: it was immediately clear that beauty, nature and landscape are a common heritage to be protected.

Back in 1995 LATI was one of the first companies in Italy to obtain environmental certification. Throughout our history we have constantly invested to ensure clean water and clean air.

LATI is an energy-intensive company and for this reason we work hard to reduce the impact of our consumption levels, monitoring energy consumption, updating processes and plants, investing in photovoltaics and purchasing "green" energy.

The sustainability of our flagship products

For some years now, LATI's range has included products that embody the principles of the circular economy. We analyze their impact through rigorous life cycle assessments (LCA). Of particular note are compounds based on mechanical recycling, compounds based on chemical recycling, and compounds containing biopolymers.

These products are the result of the Open Innovation shared with our suppliers and of the continuous dialogue with our customers. They currently occupy a high-growth, high-value-added niche - the cornerstone of our repositioning strategy.

But does that mean all our other products are not sustainable? One of the core principles of sustainability is to make products last as long as possible, and we apply that to all of our products.
