From polymer selection to functional design: how a truly safe professional straightener is created.
Did you know that a professional hair straightener can reach 230°C? At these temperatures, every detail matters: the materials used must provide
The Key Role of PPS in the Straightener’s Housing
For the internal and external housing of the Stilista straightener, Conair chose LARTON G/40, a compound developed by LATI based on PPS reinforced with 40% glass fiber. This material offers an optimal combination of:
- Thermal stability above 200°C
- Excellent chemical resistance
- Dimensional precision on complex geometries
- High-level aesthetics, even on painted or embossed surfaces
The choice of a technical polymer like PPS allows for handling critical conditions near heating elements while ensuring lightness, robustness and maneuverability of the finished product.

An Insulating, Safe, and Resistant Housing
The Stilista straightener’s heating system brings ceramic surfaces from 150°C to 230°C in just 40 seconds. The external housing, however, must remain cool to the touch, even when the straightener is used close to the hair root.
This is where LARTON G/40 shows its effectiveness:
- Functions as a thermal insulator, increasing safety during use
- Maintains precise and stable shapes, preventing deformation
- Enables high-level aesthetic finishes, thanks to superior surface quality after molding
A Straightener Designed for Professionals, Made in Italy
Beyond thermal performance, the Stilista straightener is designed to ensure an ergonomic and comfortable user experience. The housing design allows for a firm and light grip, while the materials used ensure excellent durability.
The project, entirely made in Italy, represents a concrete example of integration between materials engineering and industrial design, where every technical choice is designed to meet the needs of those working daily in professional hairstyling.
LATI and Conair: a Collaboration that Continues to Innovate
This new development marks another step forward in the collaboration between LATI and Conair, already established in developing high-performance hairstyling tools. The result is a product that combines safety, aesthetics, and reliability, ready to become a reference point for salons and industry professionals in the beauty sector.
