A collaboration between LATI and Babyliss to create a more durable, precise and quiet hairdryer.
In the professional hairstyling sector, tool quality makes all the difference. It's not just about power or design: what truly matters is the ability to perform consistently in demanding conditions, without compromising on efficiency or safety. This need led to the collaboration between LATI and Babyliss, resulting in the development of the BabylissPro Falco hairdryer, one of the most advanced and quietest ever made.
At the heart of the project is a special material: polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), a thermoplastic known for its dimensional stability and heat resistance beyond 200 °C.
It is a polymer that is:
LATI used PPS to develop LARTON, a family of structural compounds reinforced with glass fibers and mineral fillers, ideal for components exposed to thermomechanical stress.
Conair, the parent company of Babyliss, chose LARTON GCE/650,a PPS, based compound with 65% filler content (glass and ceramic fibers), to manufacture the internal grids and other key components of the Falco hairdryer.
These parts are positioned near the heating elements, where temperatures can exceed 200 °C. Under such conditions, it is crucial for plastic components to retain their shape: even slight deformation would disrupt airflow, increase noise, and risk malfunction.
LARTON meets this challenge by offering:

The result? The new BabylissPro Falco can operate reliably for over 5,000 hours, with noise levels under 70 dB, well below the typical 80–90 dB of conventional dryers.
The precision, crafted air outlet grids also help optimize airflow speed and direction, enabling fast, even drying. All of this with a sleek design and excellent resistance to moisture and environmental stress, thanks to PPS’s non-hygroscopic nature.
This collaboration between LATI and Babyliss proves that selecting the right advanced plastics can improve not just technical performance, but also user experience. LARTON is more than a technical specification, it’s what enables a quieter, more reliable, and longer, lasting hairdryer, designed for styling professionals.
