Research and Testing also in Processing

Our R&D department develops advanced compounds and customized solutions, testing and certifying each material to ensure excellent performance.

All LATI compounds are injection molded and tested in the internal molding shop, where material processability is ensured even in molds with challenging geometries.

Materials intended for 3D printing from filament and pellets are also optimized by simulating their respective processing methods.

Innovation in Processes and Technologies

At LATI, innovation means not only researching new materials but also continuous evolution of production processes.

Our R&D department develops advanced compounds and customized solutions, testing and certifying each material to ensure excellent performance.

In parallel, the Technology & Innovation function works on factory optimization: from plant layout to digitalization, from machine efficiency to researching new technologies to make processes increasingly sustainable and efficient.

The close collaboration between these two areas is what allows us to offer innovative, reliable, and quality materials, combining scientific creativity with industrial accuracy.

DESIDERATA – Horizon Europe Innovation Action

Funding Program: Horizon Europe – Innovation Action Grant Agreement ID: 101178011

DESIDERATA is a Horizon Europe project (Grant Agreement No. 101178011) involving 16 partners from 13 European countries. The overall objective is to transform chemical innovation by integrating the framework Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) promoted by the European Commission.

Its specific objectives include:
  • the formulation of safer and more sustainable flame retardants for injection and 3D printing applications;
  • the development of PFAS-free thermoplastics for additive manufacturing;
  • the creation of lightweight and fire-resistant geopolymer materials, graphene-based non-stick coatings and eco-friendly lubricants.
LATI is a key partner in the project, thanks to the contribution of its highly qualified technical team. Our role is central in developing safer and PFAS-free flame retardant materials, particularly for 3D printing, in line with the experience gained in the LATI3Dlab and with the ongoing commitment to developing halogen-free retardant systems. LATI’s participation in DESIDERATA represents a concrete investment in future materials, demonstrating commitment to safer and environmentally responsible solutions. The project consolidates LATI’s position as a proactive entity in responding to regulatory and ecological challenges related to chemical safety and circularity.
