High voltage discharge of any electrostatic charges accumulated on the surface of plastic items may obviously represent a considerable danger, especially in the presence of explosive atmospheres.

The most immediate solution to this problem can be obtained by dispersing electrically conductive materials in the polymeric matrices.

Compounds formulated in this way show a variable resistivity within a range from 1 to 10^12 Ohm.
